Clarity and consistency editing

When multiple contributors are involved, inconsistency creeps in. I provide deep editing that improves structure, flow and readability while preserving intent and tone. This applies to web pages, documents, white papers and any content your audience sees.

Website copy fix (fixed fee)

A focused, high-impact review of your most important pages. For £800 + VAT I edit up to five key pages (around 3,000 words total) and return a Word document with tracked changes and margin comments – no CMS access required. It’s a single-iteration edit; if you want further rounds or implementation support, I’ll quote separately.

Informative content writing

I don’t write slogans or ad campaigns. I write content that explains things – accurately, clearly and accessibly. I’m sector-agnostic: I’ve handled topics as varied as forestry, pharmaceuticals, crop science, insurance, and plastics – not as specialisms, but as examples of getting up to speed quickly. Coming in fresh is often a strength: it forces ideas to be clarified from first principles, which helps your readers too.

Proofreading and copyediting

Need a final polish or an earlier, more substantive pass? By proofreading I mean surface-level checks (spelling, punctuation, grammar, layout) at the end of the process. Copyediting goes deeper on structure, phrasing and consistency earlier on. If you need something in between, we can call it “proof-editing”.

French–English translation

I’m a qualified French–English translator (DipTrans) and member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL). Translation was my primary activity for several years, mostly technical and business content. I’m not actively promoting it now, but I’m happy to discuss projects where translation and editorial insight are both required.

How we’ll work

We agree goals and scope, I review representative material, then edit or draft with clear, example-led comments. You get practical recommendations and ready-to-use copy. I can work in Word with tracked changes, Google Docs, or your preferred workflow.

Scope and turnaround

Work is carried out on a best-endeavours basis – results naturally vary with team size, channels and governance. Typical turnarounds for the services above are one to three weeks depending on scope; tighter deadlines by agreement.
